St. Augustine Wellston Center serves 500-600 families each month with a volunteer team made up largely of retirees. As demand grew, the pantry needed a safer, more efficient way to store inventory, improve rotation, and reduce the bending, lifting, and reaching required to pick food and household items.

Wellston partnered with UNEX and Industrial Shelving Systems to replace its mixed storage setup with SpanTrack Wheel Bed carton flow. Across seven rack bays, the new system improved product presentation, supported FIFO rotation for perishables, and gave the pantry flexible storage for different box and container sizes.

The upgrade made an immediate difference. Volunteers can now slide items forward easily, replenish inventory faster, and safely pick heavier products like canned goods without product hangups or items falling through. The pantry is cleaner, more organized, and better equipped to keep food moving.
